De(il)lusion
Years pass and I am still here
in my little world
surrounded by these high walls
that I built myself
so as not to be deceived by an elusive glimmer of hope
to keep all sorts of illusions at bay
because basically it is what is revealed every time
an illusion ..
and we as always let ourselves be deceived
we naively think that this time it will be different
that this time there will be a happy ending
that this time we mean something to someone
but instantly everything vanishes and we return to reality
finding ourselves alone with the ashes of that passion
adding only other memories, other scars to our miserable existence.

Obsessions, premier album de Notturno, ne pouvait avoir de meilleur nom. Le black metal dépressif y commence avec douceur pour occuper vos pensées. Et une fois que le point de non retour a été franchi, il est dévastateur. Le champ des émotions exprimées par Kjiel est immense : colère, détresse et déprime hantent chacun de ses cris ; ses chuchotements traduisent une fatigue qui ne pourra jamais être soulagée — je comprends mieux pourquoi Imber Luminis a travaillé avec Eyelessight. Magnifique. Jordan Vauvert

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone.
